Many realize that if we dwell on negative thoughts, that our life will reflect that negativity. The problem is in understanding the mechanism that manifests the problem. We are wrong if we think that our thoughts create a self fulfilling prophecy. You are actually missing the source…and yes, our thoughts do play a role, but not as creator…so let’s look for the origin.
The power lies in the mysterious source that never sleeps, our subconscious. The conscious mind plays an important role in protecting the subconscious. “In this way the conscious mind becomes responsible ruler and guardian of the subconscious mind. It is this high function which can completely reverse conditions in your life.”
The quality of what and how we guard our mind and heart will make the difference. If you wish to change the circumstances of your life, you must make a commitment to change. This includes how you view the world and the forces that shape your life.
So the question is simply, what thoughts do you dwell upon?
How would you characterize the guardian of your subconscious?
Do you truly want change and are you willing to stand the watch and protect the source of “ideals, of aspiration, of the imagination and is the channel through which we recognize our Divine Source,” according to Charles Haanel?
Take time this week and designate a place to sit for 15-20 minutes and quiet your mind. You will soon encounter the guardian of your mind and evaluate his fitness for duty. Be prepared to fire him if necessary and intentionally replace him with a gate keeper who will understand the significance of this duty.
